Seafood is so common in Penang among locals and even non-locals whom are more than willing to visit from outstation. Seeing as how Penang is enveloped by the large sea and fishing villages, it's no surprise to see many long-time seafood establishments all over Penang. Eating seafood can be relatively expensive in general, but not if you discover the good ones worthy of your money like the ones on this list!

Pang Hainan Seafood is a hard place to miss whether you're a local or a tourist looking for some seafood. It operates with a large outdoor and indoor dining experience, providing ample space to cater for large gatherings and groups. Fresh catch-of-the-days like fish, king crab and lobster are a must to order and pair well with fried rice or noodles. Most of the crabs and lobsters come in six different ways to cook; whether its baked, sweet & sour, black pepper, steamed, chili and their latest addition of kam heong (spicy soy sauce with curry leaves). If you're craving for something unique, you can opt for the cheese lobster, as it is one way to tease your appetite.

It's pretty impressive to see the chefs utilizing the fresh seafood from the the large selection of aquariums as well. Thankfully, we believe Bali Hai isn't like any other tourist trap spot. Although their prices are hiked up a little, it's good to know that their food quality is still sky high and professionally prepared by the chefs.

Sunshine Bay Seafood Restaurant is located on the same stretch as Taman Bungah Post office. Like many others out there, it is a no-fuss restaurant where you would go purely to indulge in seafood and nothing else. The place is slightly shabby in comparison, but it is fairly comfortable and windy. As for their menu, it's pretty much what you can expect out of any seafood restaurants - steamed fish, black pepper crab, sambal squid so on and so forth. Most of what they have are cooked and seasoned quite nicely, so yeah, go for what you enjoy most!

Frankly, this restaurant is so popular that it has been featured a few times before by the media and local food shows! Ong Cheng Huat is famed for its well-acclaimed signature dishes; steamed red snapper, clams, prawn fritters, spring chicken and fried vermicelli. On the contrary, their menu is quite limited as they only provide around six to seven items. It's easy to tell how the dishes look like with the full-blown pictures pasted on the wall.

Dining by the sea is truly an experience not to be forgotten and you can do so here at QE-II Waterfront Venue. Located in Church Street, this restaurant stretches out to the ocean by the make-shift docks. There are both outdoor seating and air-conditioned ones. To those who are seated outdoors, not to worry as it is really windy out there! which makes it a perfect spot for a late-night hangout over a glass of wine. The food here is pretty good too as they lean towards a more semi-casual dining. Good seafood choices cooked beautifully, friendly service and a fantastic ambiance.

323 Seafood RestaurantNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

If you're looking for a restaurant with a stunning view, then 323 Seafood Restaurant might just be the place of visit. Located along the shores of Jalan Gangsa Butterworth, this restaurant is actually a rather old and well, not very nice place. The two great things about this restaurant are the view and the food. Serving fresh seafood is what they aspire to do, as well as packing those dishes with flavour. Most of the dishes are cooked quite nicely. Overcooking is at a minimal and flavours are on point. It's also fairly affordable, which makes it a really popular place for young families.

TaiTong Seafood RestaurantNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Da Shu Xia Seafood HouseNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Literally translates into "Under the big Tree" Seafood House, this nature-incorporated restaurant is another established eatery in the heart of George Town, Penang. If anything, its like a combination of a shack, together with a really old alley and its outgrown vines, merged into something comforting. Heck, even their dishes are a little off the charts. Uniquely crafted dishes such as the 3 flavor Golden Threadfin Bream, Two Way Spinach, Slipper Lobster seasoned with only salt and pepper, and coconut seafood curry. In short, it's unique, tasty and well, not all that affordable.

Oriental SeafoodNon halal 01f78899591256b47a2708a65f6538333b86089a30fbd22545a41deece4ea490

Oriental Seafood may be a fairly generic name, but rest assured that what they offer is not as boring. Like some of available restaurants in Penang, it's located by the shore on a dock extended from the beach. All the tables are set within that dock and it sure is breezy inside. Couple that up with some delicious seafood as well as a view of the ocean and you have yourself a date-night treat. Plenty to choose from, cooked nicely and priced rather horribly - that is what Oriental Seafood is all about.
